How to Look After a Prom Dress or Outfit after the Prom

The Prom Dress has recently taken centre stage, the day that a 16 year old girl can officially wear a dream disney dress, or a sleek stylish coming of age dress, or even a stylish suit. Everything goes at The School Leaver’s Prom!

No need to wait for a wedding, as Prom ceremonies are taking over for the best dressed moment of a girl’s life! But once the dress is found (start looking early and choose a Prom Dress shop that will not sell your style to another girl going to your Prom) and Prom day is over, how is it best to look after the Prom Dress, so that this perfect outfit can be worn again in the future?

With ruffles, sparkles and delicate fabrics, this is not a dress to risk in your washing machine. So best advice is to take it to a Dry Cleaner that specialises in wedding dresses, who will take care of the layers and sparkles using gentle detergents and hand cleaning.

After cleaning, The Prom Dress will not do well hanging in the wardrobe, being pulled on the hanger, flattened against other dresses and absorbing acid from the wood & dyes that surround it. A plastic dress cover is not ideal either as it will drop small particles of plastic on the dress as it disintegrates over time.
