So often people come up to me with a secret confession “I just love Boxes!”

There are many of us!

Usually anyone visiting The Empty Box Company workshop on our Devon Farm, is a little overwhelmed to see so many different sizes, shapes and designs, all being handmade in-front of them. We specialise in boxes for preserving wedding dresses, but The Empty Box Company handmakes every kind of box you could want, to keep any special item safe, and perfectly preserved, with an emphasis on beauty. After all, if you are keeping it for a lifetime, you want to Love that Box.

The original inspiration was to revive the Edwardian Hat Box & Dress Box; Using specially milled board, beautiful interior design papers, & finished with English Nottingham lace, and satin ribbon, and of course acid-free tissue paper.

The Empty Box Company has a strong environmental ethos; our pH neutral board is milled to our specification, & is 100% recycled, much of our satin ribbon is made from recycled plastic, & we have a tree planting project on our Devon farm, to offset our carbon footprint.

I had three Bespoke Hat Boxes made for me all those years ago (1993) in my left over French wall paper I had in my London bathroom. It was a very grand bathroom. I've moved since, always with these boxes. To the Cotswolds, to Saint Remy de Provence, and now to Naples, Florida. They are going to be someone's long after I am gone. Much adored, thank you!
