Your Wedding Doesn’t Need to Cost You – Financially or Emotionally!
If you’re planning your wedding, you may have already discovered that everyone seems to have an opinion on what a wedding “should” look like. But one of the biggest wedding trends for 2026 is actually moving away from those expectations altogether. Couples are increasingly choosing to create celebrations that reflect who they are, rather than following traditions simply because they’ve always ben done that way.
Modern weddings are becoming much more personal and immersive. Rather than focusing on ticking boxes, couples are thinking about the overall experience they want to create for themselves and their guests. This might mean choosing a venue that has special meaning to them, serving their favourite foods instead of a traditional wedding breakfast, or incorporating hobbies/interests/family traditions into the day. The result is a wedding that feels authentic and memorable because it genuinely represents the couple at the centre of it!

Won’t That Cost More?
The good news is that creating a personal wedding doesn’t have to mean spending more money. In fact, it can often be the opposite! When you stop feeling obligated to include things that don’t matter to you, it becomes much easier to focus your budget on the elements you truly care about. Perhaps you’d rather invest in incredible photography than wedding favours, or maybe live music is more important to you than elaborate centrepieces. There is no right or wrong answer – only what feels meaningful to you both.]
We’re also seeing many couples rethinking traditional timelines and formats. Some are choosing smaller guestlists and more intimate celebrations, while other are creating relaxed, festival-style weekends where guests can spend more quality time together. Others are skipping formal elements altogether, replacing them with activities or experiences that feel more natural to their personalities. The beauty of modern weddings is that there are fewer rules than ever before – lucky you!

Nostalgia is Prevalent
One trend that continues to grow is the idea of keeping meaningful items from the wedding day. Whilst flowers fade and cake gets eaten, special keepsakes can be enjoyed for years to come. Maybe that looks like keeping & preserving your wedding dress, or storing precious mementoes and accessories. Actually investing in the memories of your day can often bring far more lasting joy than following traditions you never really wanted to in the first place…

At the end of the day, your wedding should feel like a celebration of your relationship, not a performance for everyone else. If a tradition brings you joy, keep it. If it doesn’t give yourself permission to let it go. The weddings people remember most are rarely the ones that followed every rule; they’re the ones where the couple looked happy, relaxed, and completely themselves.
